    Helen McNitt State Park

We’ve been staying in during COVID-19 except for the weekly grocery run and it was time we did some physical distancing outside of the house. So today we went on a short drive over to Cazenovia to see if we could get a little time next to the water. Unfortunately or fortunately the parks in town were full and we didn’t feel comfortable stopping and being able to maintain our distance. However I had heard of a fishing access park towards the north end of the lake. As it turns out it was a nice little place with a dock/boat launch that was just what the family needed – a…

Physical Distancing at Highland Forest Park

Weather in Central NY is starting to warm up. With COVID-19 a concern its hard to enjoy the usual park haunts without feeling a slight dread. To get a change of scene (from the house) we took a short drive down to Highland Forest Park. The lot was half full, but we stay covered and wandered the less traveled trails. It was nice to relax alone in the woods.

Windy Hill Orchards – Apple Picking

Living in Central New York has its perks, one of them is being surrounded by Apple Orchards. Beak and Skiff is popular as it provides something for everyone in the family : Playground for the kids, Beverage Samples for the Adults and great food to boot. However when in the mood to really just enjoy a bit of nature and simply pick some apples I find that Windy Hill Orchards has a great price and small orchard feel. Don’t forget to take a moment to enjoy the quiet beauty of the orchard. We ended our morning outing with 64 lbs. of Apples and dozen cider donuts to enjoy at our…

    Pre-Summer Fun in Cazenovia

Spent a nice Friday lunch in Cazenovia. We’ve been talking of going to Empire’s Farm Brewery for awhile and finally made it out. Worth the trip as they had great food (they even have charging stations for electric vehicles), however I really enjoyed some time at the lake with August and Elaine. He really is one cute kid. The day was perfect for tossing stones and doing a little wadding. There are several little parks in Cazenovia and we found the perfect one for a future summer picnic with the family. A little bar-b-q, fun on the playground and splashing in the water.

    Spring on the Farm

When at Grandpa’s Farm its time for tractor driving! Caprice is a pro, no fear and drives like a 30 year old with no help beyond directions on where to head to. Lionel needs a little more assistance but enjoys being in control of the Tractor. Even August took Daddy for a little spin to visit the moo cows.
